Kayaking around the island, I have been approached by dolphins, jumping mullet and manatees. It was impossible to capture any of them in a photo, but I did have this huge iguana sunning himself hold still for a photo!
Matlacha is know for fishing. This is the Matlacha Pass Bridge. It is a single-leaf drawbridge that has been called "The Fishingest Bridge in The World". Any time of the day or night you can find people fishing off it.
Matlacha is a small island located between Cape Coral and Pine Island Florida. I started visiting there a couple years ago and fell in love with the vibrant, artistic and historical fishing community. I love to kayak around the island in my little pink kayak. I will share some of my favorite views along the way!
